The Perfect Past
One more Verb Tense comes our way: The Past Perfect (Simple)
We use it to answer Questions like this:
What had happened before 9 o'clock?
What did you do after I had warned you?
What had happened by the time the police got to the scene of the crime?
Common Uses:
- We need to be referring to the PAST and then mention something previous
- In Reported Speech it replaces the Present Perfect and the Simple Past
- Regrets about the Past after I wish /If only
